crash

Yesterday, two cars crashed into my driveway/ next door garden at 3AM in the morning and tore off and crumpled the sides of our gates... The sound was sooo loud, it woke me up even though I was sleeping in Eugene's room (Eugene was sleeping on the ground and he didn't even flinch, lol). I hurried over to my room where Silvia was sleeping, and scanned the street from the window, hoping I wouldn't see a huge disaster. But I saw the ends of our gates hanging up and a car smashed through next to it with another car right behind which had crashed into the parked cars on either side of the driveway... Then I heard a woman yelling and crying into the phone. I ran downstairs and went outside in my pajamas, my parents following behind. A neighbor was already at the scene talking to the guy who had caused the accident. He seemed to be either in shock or a bit inebriated, and he was this really young white guy who was traveling here from Florida. He crashed into the car in front of him because he was trying to make the light before it turned red. The car he crashed into lost control and swerved in between the parked cars and the palm tree, finding itself pummeling into the sides of our gates. The neighbor and my dad were already trying to call 911, but the lines were busy so I used our land line and managed to reach them and give them the details. The fire department was the first to arrive. Then the cops and the tow trucks.
The car that the white guy hit  happened to be one of those Korean taxis, and the crying lady was a Korean girl around my age (maybe older) who was going home from a party at a friend's house. She was tipsy and hysterical (understandably) and just wanted to go home. The taxi driver was frightened as well and called up his boss, who came over to see the situation (I think they were both hoping that the cops wouldn't probe about the taxi business since those Korean taxis are technically illegal). It seemed fine as the cops only wanted to deal with the details of the accident itself and getting insurance information and such.
The taxi driver's son came over as well and helped his dad out with translation (my dad and I had been doing that til then) between the cops/ paramedics and the driver. He was about my age as well, and honestly, seeing him made my heart hurt so much. the taxi driver became more than a taxi driver and suddenly his reserve and abruptness seemed more like manifestations of fear and worry of a working father. Something about a dad working so late at night to support his family and getting into an accident that was not his fault and having to deal with all that paperwork and court matters when he couldn't even understand English, and the fact that he couldn't work anymore that night and make money since his car was damaged and towed... geez... it was so heartbreaking. and the son was this really sweet guy with a slight Korean accent (fob) who was quiet and didn't talk much but cared for his dad very gently- massaging his dad's neck to try and prevent any neck problems the next day. Something about their relationship, like how they didn't speak much to each other but were subtly communicating their feelings... it was so ... lovely. :'). Anyway, they left in the son's car. I hope everything works out well for them...
Can you tell I was a bit taken with this guy? i think i have this sick problem where i fall in love with a guy if i see his usually unexposed vulnerable side due to slightly pitiful and painful situations.
It's funny because when I first saw the guy, I thought he was just a pedestrian passing by, and I remember distinctly dismissing him as one of those arrogant fobby korean boys who don't care about anyone but themselves when he walked hurriedly past the damaged cars, but when I realized he was headed towards the taxi driver and understood their relationship and saw their interaction, I began thinking he was so cute and nice... yeah... hahahaa.
